Maybe we don’t take you to the most beautiful places, but we sure try to take you to the most authentic ones. Rando Imperator passes through places like Sermide, along that Po river that seems like the end of your journey from Munich to Bolzano, but it’s not. The last refreshment point of the European randonnée is at Nautica Sermide, a club on the banks of the Po that has gathered many stories from the river over time. Among the boats moored in the water and tables where you can play cards in the shade of the poplars in the floodplain, you can meet people like Valerio or Gilberto, who were born and raised here. They know everything about the Po, yet they too have managed to get lost. They have experienced everything about the Po, even tragedies and fears, but they are still here to tell us about them. And sitting along the Po, they have watched you pass by, year after year, on that embankment where you bend to cut through the wind, where the storm gets you soaking wet, where the sun shines upon you. They look at you and think that maybe you’re a little crazy, but surely, you too have something to tell.
After so much travel, so many kilometers, starting from far away, even from another country, after crossing the mountains, before reaching Ferrara, lost in the plains along a river, you arrive in places like Sermide. Rando Imperator is made up mostly of places like this, with people who always have stories to tell. So, when you pass by, please pause a moment, and then say out loud, “If this isn’t nice, what is?”.
