To celebrate 10 years of Rando Imperator we double up: there it is, the 1200 km Rando Imperator. Ten years ago, Witoor’s randonnée became European, doubling from 300 to 600 km, connecting Munich to Bolzano and Ferrara. After 10 editions, we have decided to go back to the origins: it’s not just about piling up kilometers or altitude gain, since there are now several more difficult tracks in every part of the globe, but it’s all about rediscovering the thrill of the first times. Rando Imperator 1200 km will be a “zero” edition: let’s try to build a new track together in order to transform it into an Audax brevet from 2026.
A circular track that will start on Thursday May 1 from Ferrara, then will climb towards the Alps passing through the Euganean Hills and then the Belluno Dolomites, until the stop in Villabassa/Niederdorf, where you can sleep in the sports field with refreshments included. Following the Munich-Venice cycle path, we will descend into the Pusteria Valley passing through Brunico and Bressanone, and ascending to Austria through the Brenner Pass, Innsbruck and then into Bavaria to Munich. There, the route will meet the classic 600 km Rando Imperator, and we will all set off again on Saturday, May 3 to follow the Via Claudia Augusta until Sunday, May 4.
Registrations are open from Jan. 23rd, 2025, here.
