If you want rain, mud, a runny nose, numb fingers, hairpin turns, mountains, woods: you’re going to get them. If you want sun, hot weather, the boredom of a straight and endless road, a boundless plain: you’re going to get them. In Rando Imperator 2020 there’s everything: a two-day bicycle trip, 9-10 May 2020, from Germany to Italy, to be done all in one breath or to be split into one of the four 600/300/200 km Audax brevets Munich-Bozen-Mantua-Ferrara. In the randonnée with no boundaries, from the start in Bavaria to the finishing line under Ferrara’s Estense Castle, you’ll hear all the world’s languages: because you cross different countries, because randonnée’s participants come from all over Europe. Only the sky, from one side and the other of the Alps, is the same; and it’s there watching you, to prevent you from hiding, to keep you on the road: your eyes fixed ahead of you, your bike let go in the wind.

The only Italian randonnée that starts from abroad and doesn’t make a round tour: because if you go far, you must start from afar. And inside there are mountains and – almost – the sea, you’ll hear different languages and dialects spoken on the side of the road, you’ll go from one country to another (Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy) with no need to show a passport: it’s a borderless Europe, because it simply works like that, when you ride a bicycle. It’s just two days, but there’s all you can breathe about Europe, regarding routes, beauty, struggle. That’s why Rando Imperator is a European randonnée; as a matter of fact, half of the registered participants come from all over the world.
